Ty Gomez Bio

Ty Gomez is a Dallas, Texas attorney with more than 19 years of experience. He has handled a diverse assortment of civil cases in state and federal courts in Dallas and throughout the State of Texas. His varied practice and the diversity of the companies and individuals he has represented, both as plaintiff and defendant, gives him a unique perspective as an attorney providing realistic, common sense advice to his clients. He believes that one of the greatest services he can provide his clients is an honest, frank opinion that isn’t always what his client wants to hear, but is instead, what his client needs to hear.

Ty is an AV* rated attorney, which is the highest rating given by The Martindale-Hubble Organization. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Ratings fall into two categories - legal ability and general ethical standards. Martindale-Hubble describes the AV rating as a significant accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. A lawyer must be admitted to the bar for 10 years or more to receive an AV rating.

In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Ty has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer.” Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.

Ty has significant experience representing corporate interests and employers, as well as individuals and executives in employment disputes, commercial disputes, and consumer fraud claims. In recent years, he has worked on a number of complex mass-plaintiff suits and collective actions in the areas of retaliatory discharge, Fair Labor Standards Act claims, and complex consumer fraud matters involving more than 200 plaintiffs. Ty also routinely represents individuals who have been subjected to illegal acts of discrimination in the work place.

Ty has extensive experience in the area of insurance coverage and bad faith. He has represented numerous individuals and businesses against insurance companies who have breached their contractual obligations by wrongfully denying insurance claims.

He has also represented doctors, engineers, real estate brokers, and accountants in professional negligence actions. Ty’s practice has also included the successful representation of individuals who have suffered significant life altering injuries due to the negligence of others.

In addition to his statewide practice, Ty is also admitted in Federal District Courts in Texas. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and has argued before that court. Mr. Gomez received a B.A. from Trinity University in 1989. He is a 1992 graduate of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the law school’s State Bar and National mock trial teams.

Mr. Gomez routinely speaks before groups and at continuing legal education events. He is also a published author and co-authored a chapter of Texas Employment Law, a multi-volume legal treatise published by James Publishing and relied upon by attorneys across the State of Texas.
